The HISTORIC DISTRICT BUSINESS ASSOCIATION is the organization comprised of the various businesses in the heart of downtown Natchitoches. These shops, restaurants, and historic homes lie within a 33-block area that is one of only two National Historic Landmark Districts in Louisiana (the other being the Vieux Carre’ (French Quarter) in New Orleans).

In addition to relaxing strolls while shopping or dining in the Historic District a time-out can be taken for a scenic carriage or guided walking tour or the French outpost of Fort St. Jean Baptiste State Historical Site.  Free walking tour maps are available at the Natchitoches Information Center located at 781 Front Street in the downtown historic district.
